Ruth studied art at the National Art School, Sydney 1968 to 1972 and completed the Graduate Diploma of Visual Arts, University of New South Wales, Sydney in 1991.
Ruth has had many solo exhibitions and been in many selected group exhibitions. September 2011 saw her solo ‘Country’ exhibition at The Art Vault, Mildura and also in September a selected group exhibition ‘Ground Cover’ at Gilligan Grant Gallery, Collingwood. The residency at The Art Vault in September allowed Ruth to continue her work and research started during the residency at The Art Vault in June 2010.
Ruth has also had a solo exhibitions during 2010 at Global Gallery in Paddington in March and at Nolan on Lovel Gallery in Katoomba in July.
She was invited to exhibit in a group exhibition ‘Out From Down Under & Beyond: Fine Art from Australia and New Zealand’ at Agora Gallery, Chelsea, New York in May 2009 and subsequent to that her paintings were displayed in a solo exhibition in the foyer of the William Morris Agency, New York for 3 months from July to August 2009.
The travels Ruth has undertaken in Australia particularly in the Mallee and desert areas around Mildura has been an inspiration for her work and will continue to be in the future.
Ruth lives in the Blue Mountains just west of Sydney in NSW, Australia. She exhibits regularly in solo and group exhibitions in Sydney, Australia and internationally.
